Australia’s Borders will Reopen To International Travelers

“We look forward to welcoming you back if you’re double vaccinated,” Prime Minister Scott Morrison announced.

Many industries, including foreign education, will be relieved by the reopening on February 21.

Throughout the coronavirus pandemic, Australia is amongst the tightest border controls in the world.

The government closed the borders in March 2020. To counteract Covid, it prohibited most visitors from visiting the nation and capped total immigration.

From December, some overseas scholars and professional immigrants have been allowed to enter the state.

Mr Morrison said on Monday that those entering Australia once the borders are fully reopened will be required to show proof of vaccination: “That’s the rule.”

Unvaccinated visitors who have a medical cause for not being vaccinated must still request for a travel waiver and, if approved, must quarantine at a hotel.

Chistain, 48, from Germany, said she was finally arranging a trip to Melbourne to meet her mother, who was diagnosed with breast cancer last year.

“She hasn’t seen her family in almost two years. “We’re hoping to go during the holidays in October or December,” she remarked.

Ms Chistain said she was hesitant to book at the present because she was “concerned about the flights and the large number of people who would be travelling.”

Since the outbreak, Australia has taken stringent efforts to combat the spread of Covid infections, including preventing its own citizens from leaving the country last year.

Despite the fact that most of the nation has opened up, Western Australia (WA) maintains its restrictive policies. Non-residents, especially those from other Australian states, are currently barred from entering unless they receive permission.

Due to the Omicron variant, proposals to unlock WA’s borders to interstate and foreign travelers this month have been officially cancelled.

As per data from Johns Hopkins University, Australia has documented more than 2.7 million cases of coronavirus and more than 4,240 Covid-related fatalities. Approximately 80% of the people has received all of their vaccinations.

TipsTravels.com was established in 2018 and has developed into a reliable platform since that modest beginning and has helped hundreds of thousands of people experience their vacations better.
